Real before & after

Two controlled image variations built from focused prompts

Each example changes one visual direction while subject, layout and crop remain the reference.

The control other tools hide

You don't pick a model. You pick what survives.

Most img2img tools give you one abstract “strength” slider. We turn it into decisions a human actually makes.

Keep — hard constraints

Locked items become model routing, region masks and post-composition — not just a sentence in the prompt.

  • Face — it's still the same person. Identity reference plus face-region protection.
  • Subject — the product, pet or object keeps its shape, logo and key details.
  • Composition — pose and layout stay put via structure and depth control.
  • Text & Logo — original pixels are preserved, never re-drawn by the model.

Change — creative freedom

One tap per intent. Each chip compiles into a structured instruction with the right negative constraints.

  • Style — anime, watercolor, film, 3D, oil paint and 40+ more.
  • Background — a new scene behind an untouched subject.
  • Outfit — swap clothing while the person stays the person.
  • Lighting — golden hour, studio, neon night, overcast.

Subtle

Light touch: tone, light, small edits. Routed to precise editing models.

Balanced

The default. Obvious change with stable identity and layout.

Creative

Big reimagining. Structure loosens — fine details may drift, on purpose.

Three steps

From photo to finished image in under a minute

Upload & auto-detect

Drop any JPG, PNG or WebP. We recognize portraits, products, sketches and interiors, and pre-lock what usually matters for that kind of image.

Lock, describe, set strength

Toggle what to keep, tap what to change, pick Subtle, Balanced or Creative. No denoising values, no seed numbers, no model menus.

Compare, download, iterate

Slide before/after, download free with no watermark, then keep editing the result with plain language — no re-upload needed.

Tap any template — it configures keep, change and strength, then scrolls you back to the studio.

Complete guide

12 image variation prompts for controlled creative testing

These image variation prompts are written for people who already have an image worth keeping. Instead of asking AI to invent a new composition, each prompt names what must stay fixed and isolates one useful change: lighting, palette, season, background or rendering style. Copy a prompt, upload your source and use Subject plus Composition locks to generate image variations that still belong to the same campaign or photo set.

What you can make

Campaign A/B tests

Keep the hero subject and layout stable while comparing a dusk treatment, seasonal palette or cleaner studio background. One-variable tests make creative performance easier to interpret.

Photo art direction

Use a concise relighting or color-grade prompt to explore a treatment before committing to a full edit. The source image remains a visible benchmark for identity and framing.

Design-system exploration

Test finish, atmosphere and palette without replacing the approved composition. Text & Logo lock adds protection when a poster or brand asset contains lettering.

How to get a controlled result

A three-step workflow for Image Variation Prompts

Name the invariant

Decide whether subject, face, layout, crop or text cannot change. Turn on those locks before writing any style language.

Change one variable

Choose one direction such as time of day, weather, background or color grade. Combining several transformations makes drift harder to diagnose.

Compare at the same strength

Start at Balanced and compare multiple prompts under the same settings. Lower to Subtle when identity or geometry moves; increase only when the requested change is too weak.

Ready-to-run directions

Controlled recipes to try with your image

Each recipe separates what must stay from the one visual decision that may change.

Keep Subject, crop, object positionsChange Sky and practical lights

Dusk relight

Generate a dusk variation with a deep blue sky and warm practical lights; preserve every object position and the exact crop.

Keep Composition and silhouetteChange Color and lighting

Neon night

Create a neon-night image variation using cyan and magenta rim light; do not move, resize or redesign the subject.

Keep People and framingChange Weather and reflections

Rainy evening

Add a rainy-evening atmosphere with wet reflections and soft overcast light; keep all people, objects and framing unchanged.

Keep Main subject and scaleChange Background and shadow

Minimal studio

Place the unchanged subject on a warm-gray studio sweep with a soft contact shadow and clean negative space.

Keep Layout and typographyChange Color treatment

Monochrome print

Make a high-contrast monochrome print variation with subtle paper grain; preserve spacing, hierarchy and readable text.

Keep Identity, pose, compositionChange Rendering style

Editorial illustration

Render this photo as a restrained editorial illustration with clean shapes and texture; preserve identity, pose and composition.

Keep Visual hierarchyChange Palette and small accents

Summer palette

Create a bright summer palette using warm yellow, coral and sky blue; keep layout, subject and visual hierarchy unchanged.

Keep Geometry and dimensionsChange Surface only

Material finish

Change only the surface finish from matte to satin with realistic highlights; preserve geometry, dimensions and camera angle.

Prompt examples

Copy one as a starting point, then change only the details that matter to your image.

  1. Relight this exact image at golden hour with a low warm sun and long realistic shadows; preserve subject, crop and camera angle.
  2. Create a restrained winter campaign variation with light snow and warm window glow; keep the hero subject, layout and text unchanged.
  3. Generate a premium editorial color grade with muted earth tones, softer contrast and subtle film grain; preserve facial identity and framing.
  4. Replace only the background with a quiet coastal sunrise; keep subject edges, pose, scale and the original crop identical.

Common problems and fixes

Use these checks before increasing change strength or adding more instructions.

The result becomes a new image. Shorten the prompt, keep Subject and Composition locked, and lower strength to Subtle.
The requested change is invisible. Name a measurable direction such as deep-blue dusk, 3200K warm practical light or matte black rather than a vague mood.
Several details drift. Split the request into separate generations so lighting, background and style are evaluated one at a time.
Poster text breaks. Enable Text & Logo lock and review every line at full resolution before publishing.

Honest limits

What AI still gets wrong — and what we do about it

No “100% accurate” promises. Here's the truth, and the workaround.

Faces can drift at Creative strength. If it stops looking like you, drop to Balanced or Subtle — Face lock works hardest there.
Hands and fingers remain the hardest thing in AI imaging. Keep them out of the change region when you can.
Tiny text and fine logos may blur if they're not locked. Turn on Text & Logo lock — we composite the original pixels back.
Complex textures like lace, fur or micro-patterns can simplify. Subtle strength preserves them best.
Big scene swaps can nudge edges of the composition. Lock Composition and expect minor boundary shifts, not layout changes.
Failed generations happen. Timeouts and moderation blocks are labeled clearly and never consume your free quota.
FAQ

Questions, answered straight

A good prompt names what must stay fixed, requests one visual change and describes that change concretely. Subject, composition and crop are common invariants.

Yes. Copy and adapt any prompt on this page. Your first Keepframe generation is free with no sign up and no watermark.

Upload the source, enable Subject and Composition locks, choose one allowed change and start at Balanced or Subtle strength.

The strength may be too high or the prompt may ask for several transformations. Lower strength and isolate a single change.

Text & Logo lock helps preserve them, but small lettering can still fail. Inspect the output at full size before commercial use.
