How to save a TikTok video to transcribe
- Your own video: open it in the TikTok app, tap Share (the arrow), then Save video. Creators can always save their own posts.
- From TikTok on desktop: open your video on tiktok.com, use the share menu and choose the download option when it is offered.
- Someone else's video: only save it if the creator allows downloads and you have permission to use the words — ask them if downloads are turned off.
- Drop the saved MP4 into the box above and click Transcribe.
Why no "paste a link" box? Getting a TikTok video from a link means downloading it on a server, which skips the creator's download settings. We keep everything on your device instead. Captions you see in the TikTok player can't be exported from the app; this gives you the text with timestamps.
