Real before & after

The zombie look changes; face, expression and pose stay the reference

Examples use AI-generated people, not real ones. Compare face shape and framing between the original and the zombie version.

The control other tools hide

You don't pick a model. You pick what survives.

Most img2img tools give you one abstract “strength” slider. We turn it into decisions a human actually makes.

Keep — hard constraints

Locked items become explicit model instructions — and a region mask when you paint one. The AI regenerates the whole image using your photo as the reference, so compare locked details with the original before you publish.

  • Face — it's still the same person. Identity reference plus face-region protection.
  • Subject — the product, pet or object keeps its shape, logo and key details.
  • Composition — pose and layout stay put via structure and depth control.
  • Text & Logo — the model is told to keep lettering and logos as they are; fine print can still change, so check it.

Change — creative freedom

One tap per intent. Each chip compiles into a structured instruction with the right negative constraints.

  • Style — anime, watercolor, film, 3D, oil paint and 40+ more.
  • Background — a new scene behind an untouched subject.
  • Outfit — swap clothing while the person stays the person.
  • Lighting — golden hour, studio, neon night, overcast.

Subtle

Light touch: tone, light, small edits. Routed to precise editing models.

Balanced

The default. Obvious change with stable identity and layout.

Creative

Big reimagining. Structure loosens — fine details may drift, on purpose.

Upload & auto-detect

Drop any JPG, PNG or WebP. We recognize portraits, products, sketches and interiors, and pre-lock what usually matters for that kind of image.

Lock, describe, set strength

Toggle what to keep, tap what to change, pick Subtle, Balanced or Creative. No denoising values, no seed numbers, no model menus.

Compare, download, iterate

Slide before/after, download free with no added visible watermark, then keep editing the result with plain language — no re-upload needed.

Tap any template — it configures keep, change and strength, then scrolls you back to the studio.

Complete guide

How to turn yourself into a zombie with AI

This AI zombie filter works like digital special-effects makeup: upload one clear photo, keep Face and Composition locked, and describe the zombie you want. The model repaints skin, eyes, lips and clothes while using your photo as the identity and pose reference, so friends still recognize you. The first zombie photo is free with no sign-up.

In short

Hold Frame's AI zombie filter turns a photo of you into a zombie while your face shape, expression and pose stay recognizable. Upload a selfie or portrait, pick a look — fresh infection, walking dead, cartoon zombie or horror-movie poster — and the AI repaints skin, eyes and clothes like Halloween special-effects makeup. Your first result is free with no sign-up and no added watermark; after that it costs 5 credits per image. Results are stylized makeup, not gore. Want it moving? Turn the zombie into a short video with the Genjutsu-style video tool.

AI Zombie Filter: what you get

Free to tryFirst standard (about 1K) result free as a guest — no sign-up, no credit card, no app download. Failed generations don't count.
After the free result5 credits per standard image. One-time packs: $6 for 50 credits (10 images) or $12 for 125. Plans: $9/month for 100, $19/month for 250; credits carry over.
WatermarkNo visible watermark is added. The model provider's invisible provenance mark (SynthID) is not removed.
How the original is keptLocks become explicit instructions to the image model (Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Image); a painted region becomes a mask. The image is regenerated with your photo as the reference. Exception: for background changes, "Keep subject pixels exactly" cuts your original subject out in your browser and pastes those pixels back unchanged — same price.
Best forQuick, controlled edits from one photo when you want to try several directions before committing.
Not the right tool forPixel-exact compositing (use layer masks in Photoshop) or editing dozens of images in one batch.

What you can make

Halloween profile pictures

Make a zombie version of your selfie for Instagram, TikTok, Discord or a group chat — ready before the party, no makeup kit needed.

The #zombieaitrend

Post a before/after of yourself or your friends as zombies. Keep the original photo next to it; the before/after is what makes the trend work.

Party invites and posters

Use the movie-poster look for a Halloween invite, a horror-night flyer or a costume-contest teaser.

How to get a controlled result

A three-step workflow for AI Zombie Filter

Use one clear face

A sharp, well-lit selfie or head-and-shoulders photo works best. One person per photo; sunglasses and tiny faces lower the likeness.

Pick a zombie style

Fresh infection, walking dead, cartoon or movie poster — tap a suggestion or write your own. Balanced keeps you recognizable; Creative goes further.

Review and retry

If it looks too mild, add details (veins, cloudy eyes, torn shirt). If it stops looking like you, lower the strength and keep Face locked.

Prompt examples

Copy one as a starting point, then change only the details that matter to your image.

  1. Turn the person into a fresh zombie for Halloween: pale grey-green skin, dark veins, cloudy bloodshot eyes, cracked lips; keep face shape, expression and pose; no gore.
  2. Make the person a walking-dead zombie: sunken eyes, rotting grey skin, torn and dirty clothes, dusty light; keep the same pose and framing.
  3. Turn this photo into a cute cartoon zombie: green skin, stitched clothes, big expressive eyes, clean 3D cartoon style; keep the pose.
  4. Create a zombie horror-movie poster: the person as a zombie in a foggy ruined city at night, cinematic red and teal lighting; keep the face recognizable.

Common problems and fixes

Use these checks before increasing change strength or adding more instructions.

The engine declined the photo. Some photos are declined by the safety checks (for example minors, or anything sexual or violent). Declined or failed generations don't use your free try or credits; use a clear adult portrait.
It doesn't look like me anymore. Switch to Balanced or Subtle strength, keep Face locked and remove extra requests like changing hair or age.
Too mild or too gory. Name specific effects (veins, cloudy eyes, grey skin) for more; add 'no gore, Halloween makeup look' for less.
Group photos. Do one person at a time; with several faces the model may change the wrong one or blend them.

Honest limits

What AI still gets wrong — and what we do about it

No “100% accurate” promises. Here's the truth, and the workaround.

Faces can drift at Creative strength. If it stops looking like you, drop to Balanced or Subtle — Face lock works hardest there.
Hands and fingers remain the hardest thing in AI imaging. Keep them out of the change region when you can.
Tiny text and fine logos may blur or change. Turn on Text & Logo lock and compare them against the original before publishing.
Complex textures like lace, fur or micro-patterns can simplify. Subtle strength preserves them best.
Big scene swaps can nudge edges of the composition. Lock Composition and expect minor boundary shifts, not layout changes.
Failed generations happen. Timeouts and moderation blocks are labeled clearly and never consume your free quota.
FAQ

Questions, answered straight

Your first zombie photo is free with no sign-up and no added visible watermark. After that it's 5 credits per image ($6 buys 50 credits).

Upload a clear selfie, keep the prefilled zombie description or tap a style (fresh, walking dead, cartoon, movie poster) and generate. Download the result and post it next to the original.

Face lock keeps your face shape, expression and pose as the reference, so it reads as a zombie version of you. Very strong styles can drift; Balanced strength keeps the likeness best.

Only with their permission, and one person per photo works best. Photos of minors and sexual or violent content are declined.

No. It's styled like Halloween special-effects makeup — grey skin, veins, cloudy eyes, torn clothes — not graphic injuries.

Yes. Use the zombie picture as the reference look in the Genjutsu-style video tool with a 5-second clip of yourself (30 credits). The video engine declines reference photos of real people, so use the cartoon or a heavily stylized version.

No. Uploads are processed to make the result and are not used to train models.
